Arts Place at Tate and Gate

Campus Master Plan Update and Space Assessment

Summary: The project will update the 2014 campus master plan to incorporate the strategic plan, capital plans, recent construction, millennial campus designation, land acquisition, and complete a campus wide space assessment for all academic and administrative units. The update will identify physical location for future buildings, infrastructure enhancements, as well as departmental space assignments and project sequencing.

Soccer Field Drainage and Repairs

Summary: The soccer field is 26 years old. The under field drainage system does not drain appropriately due to normal wear associated with its age. The playing surface requires regrading. The condition of the field does not reflect our commitment to the success of our student athletes. Repairs will include grading, field reconstruction, install new natural turf and replace and rework the field drainage and irrigation system.

Transitional Surface Parking Lot

Summary: Provide surface parking spaces to replace those expected to be unavailable during renovation of the Oakland Parking Deck. The desired capacity of the lot is 300 spaces (including the resurfacing of approximately 80 existing spaces) and is located on the block bounded by Gate City Blvd. on the north, Neal St. on the east, Haywood St. on the south, and Josephine Boyd St. on the west.

Stone 142 Classroom Renovation

Summary: Remove stage and center section of pony wall at back of classroom. Install new auditorium seats in new seating pattern. Install carpet and acoustical panels on north, east and west walls. Install handrails at stairs. Provide new suspended lay-in ceiling with new LED
lighting and new air distribution devices. Install flat panel screens on each side of the seating and relocate teaching station as needed.

Stone Building Entrance Repairs

Summary: Project includes the repair of damaged exterior masonry stairs and landings at the building’s northwest entrance. Project to remove and replace existing slate treads and landing pavers at upper stair run with new concrete pavers and waterproofing system. As the intermediate and lowers landings and stair runs, the current elements will be demolished and reconstructed with concrete structure, brick cladding for side walls and concrete pavers and waterproofing system. Existing metal railings to be reused and/or modified to meet current Code requirements, as budget permits.

Campus Supply Fuel Pump Upgrade

Spring Garden Apartments Landscaping Removal and Redesign

Jackson Library SuperLab Room 177 Renovations

Summary: The current SuperLab needs to be renovated to incorporate our currently Walk-in support center services that are currently being run out of the McNutt building. The renovation will include updating and renovating a space that’s currently being used for storage to change it into an office space for a full-time staff member. It also includes changing the traffic flow of the room by adding a reception desk area the back of the room. As well as changing out all the current desks in the space with updated and new furniture. Our AVC has chosen STORR to be the lead vendor on the room design for this renovation.

Weatherspoon Sculpture Courtyard

Summary: Renovation to our sculpture courtyard space on the south side of the Weatherspoon. The top priority is to remove the Cor-ten steel “wave” planter and trees on the east side of the area; the trees could be salvaged and moved elsewhere on campus. Following that, we wish to mark a path to the back door of the Cone Building. Another possibility is to remove the short part of the brick wall facing the loggia and create a more direct entryway at that point.
