The UNCG Campus Base Map is the product of the One Campus/One Map initiative to create a standard base map on which all future campus maps will be based. Features of the UNCG campus that would benefit most map designs are included. Common feature names and building designations, roads, walkways, points of interest are provided to aid navigation.
Both file types include two map designs, the difference being that one design has buildings designated based on primary use or function. The focus on building designations eases navigation for students and visitors who may be unfamiliar with the campus.
This base map was developed in the FDC Geographic Information System Unit over six months with help from several UNCG staff and faculty across multiple departments. Updates to the map will be provided during the summer.
24×36 inches, vector image, scalable up or down to any size needed. Use the vector version to develop a map with more detail and control over labels, location, and general look and feel. Four files are included: One for the main campus and three insets for locations away from the main campus. These are included in a single zip file.
24×36 down scalable PNG images. These are flat files with no layers. They are suitable for use as-is or as a foundation for a simple mapping application. Create a simple map for department interests using the raster images to add labels, features, or call-out text using a raster image editor (i.e. Adobe Photoshop).
This map product is for reference and inventory purposes only and may not have been prepared for or be suitable for legal, engineering, or surveying purposes. It does not represent an on-the-ground or underground survey and represents only the approximate relative location of property boundaries, utilities, structures, and any other cultural or natural features that may be present on the map.
Prior to digging, the locations of all underground utilities in the project area should be verified through a utility locate service and contacting NC811.
